May Garden

Steve & Jetta come home from a walk.

Aquilegia formosa (Columbine)

Stachys cooleyae (Hedge Nettle)

Rhododendron macrophyllum, the Washington state flower

May 2015 was warmer & much drier than normal.  The garden needed irrigation, which was unusual during this normally wet month.  Jordan & Steve went to the Washington Native Plant Society plant sale on Mercer Island on 5/9.  They bought the excellent Rhododendron macrophyllum pictured above, as well as a few new perennials.  The native Iris finished blooming at the beginning of the month.  The native Penstemon started blooming at the end of the month.  We were all well pleased by the garden in May.
