April Garden
Camassia quamash (Camas) in the native garden
in the native garden
Maianthemum racemosum (False Solomon's Seal) in the native garden
Paeonia mascula (Balkan Peony)
Paeonia veitchii (Veitch's Peony)
Rosa chinensis 'Mutabilis' (Butterfly Rose)
Rubus parviflorus (Thimbleberry) in the native garden
Geum macrophyllum (Largeleaf Avens) in the native garden
Tolmiea menziesii (Piggyback Plant) in the native garden
April 2016 was much warmer & drier than normal. The mean temperature was 6.4 degrees above normal, while precipitation was not much more than half of normal. There was a record high of 89 on 4/18 while we were traveling on the East Coast. It was not as hot in Washington DC that day, or on any day we were in that city or in Philadelphia. We were thankful that Stokely kept the plants watered. With the moisture from the very wet winter, together with the warm weather, all of the plants grew large & lush.
