April Garden

Sedum palmeri in the patio garden.

Armeria maritima (Sea Thrift) in the native garden meadow.

Maianthemum racemosum (False Solomon's Seal) in the native garden forest floor.

Lewisia cotyledon & Sedum spathulifolium near the drainage catch basin.

Geum macrophyllum (Large-leaf Avens) in the native garden meadow.

Rubus parviflorus (Thimbleberry) in the native garden along the garage wall.

Ceramic bowl by Steve & redwood driftwood in the native garden along the back porch wall. These pictures were all taken in the Ell Alley Garden in April 2014.

April was hopeful, but a bit sparse in the Ell Alley Garden.  We were happy to find that few plants were lost over winter.  There had been a problem with flooding & erosion below the drainage catch basin next to the garage.  A few plants died there from standing water.  A second, deeper hole was dug to hold water.  The overflow was diverted directly to the alley.  It rained a lot in April & water often flowed through the garden, which has a fairly steep slope.  A few new plants were added.
